This month’s CatchUp is with MomUp superstar, Megan De Lima, now an Account Director at Direct Associates!
Tell us a bit about you!
My name is Megan De Lima and I have 10+ years experience in the digital and brand marketing space. I spent the past few years in the technology industry developing brand marketing campaigns for companies like Lyft, Amazon and Motional, an autonomous vehicle technology company, and am excited to begin my newest role with Direct Associates, a full-service marketing agency in MA!
How has MomUp helped you?
The MomUp team was a great resource and helped me land my current Account Director role with Direct Associates. When Katie originally reached out to me, she took the time to understand my background and professional experience, as well as both my career and personal growth goals for the future. She was incredibly communicative and supportive throughout the interview process and helped me find a role that fit exactly what I was looking for in my next challenge.
What career highlight are you most proud of?
During my time at Lyft, I led the sponsorship activation for Lyft at the 2019 Boston Calling Music Festival! I developed an integrated marketing campaign with the Lyft New England team and local media partners to increase Lyft’s market share and grow our revenue YoY - this was such a fun and impactful campaign to lead.
First job you ever had
In high school, I worked at a local publishing company in Connecticut and worked on the Threads magazine team. I learned so much about editorial and media development, and joined the team for a fashion photo shoot in NYC - I was even a featured model in one of our issues!
What are your best job search tips?
I recommend leaning on your network throughout the job search process. Earlier in my career, I was lucky to find an amazing mentor who I have stayed in touch with over the years, and we’ve grown to be great friends. I routinely check in with her to discuss my career goals, growth, and plans for the future and, to this day, she continues to introduce me to new people and opportunities within her circle. Networking is such a great practice to maintain - you never know when a new and exciting opportunity might arise!
Advice on balancing work and personal life?
I recommend carving out time for yourself during the day when you can - whether that’s a workout or meditation before starting your work day, a lunchtime walk, or quality time with your family at the end of the day. Having this time to regroup and reset is so important for your mental health and preventing burnout over time.
What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?
I love spending time with my husband and our dogs, reading, or practicing yoga in my free time - I also recently joined Peloton so I am taking a ton of spin classes these days!
