CatchUp - Patricia Diaz

This month’s CatchUp is with MomUp superstar, Patricia Diaz, now the Growth Marketing Lead, at Introvoke!

Tell us a bit about you!

Hi! I'm Patricia Diaz. I've spent the last 15 years in marketing and have marketed every product/service under the sun. I'm the Vice Chair on the board for the National Institute for Social Media and spend too much time on TikTok. I am currently the Growth Marketing Lead at Introvoke - the only embeddable live video solution available on the market. I have two small kids, Jonah and Josephine, two adorable dogs, Peach and Luigi, and a very patient and loving husband who never says "no" to my insane ideas.

How has MomUp helped you?

MomUp helped me land my current role! I'm so grateful to Michelle for advocating for me and connecting me to this opportunity.

What career highlight are you most proud of?

Being asked to join the board of NISM was amazing. I'm so proud of the work they're doing and getting to learn from the other board members is a joy.

First job you ever had?

Working at dry cleaners in Buffalo, NY. I was fired for calling into a radio station to win concert tickets and naming the place on air  😂

What are you best job search tips?

Advocate for yourself! I don't know why people feel shame when they're job searching. Letting your network know your need is a surefire way to get connected to someone who can help. Leverage LinkedIn and be honest about what you're looking for.

Advice on balancing work and personal life?

Set boundaries early and often. I have a family and they will always come before work. Once I realized that work/jobs/money/resources weren't in short supply, and that there's always enough to go around, I stopped treating work like the number 1 priority in my life. I work to live, not live to work. People, and subsequently employers, will only treat you how you teach them to treat you. That's not to say slack off and be lazy and expect everyone to accomodate you. That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying work your ass off while you're being paid to work your ass off and then be unapologetic about having a life.

What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?

I'm a trained pastry chef so I do a LOT of baking. This past weekend alone I made peach cobbler, banana bread, oatmeal cookies, and a birthday cake. It's my therapy.
